Government Says Borders Are Open for Immigration to Canada

The Canadian government will again allow people approved for permanent residency to come to Canada as pandemic restrictions are easing. Any foreign national with a valid Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) will be allowed across the border. COPRs are legal for one year and those with expiring or expired COPRs will be given more information on how to apply for a new one.

Canadian Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino acknowledged the safety and security of the country remains a top priority as they support the safe arrival of new permanent residents to Canada over the next twelve months. The new permanent residents will be able to begin a new life in Canada and the country will benefit from their talents during the post-pandemic economic recovery.
