Canada’s population has reached a new milestone of 40 million residents. According to Canadian Visa Professionals, the immigration policy by the government has helped boost Canada’s population over the last decade.

It came as a big surprise how fast it was for Canada’s population to reach her new 40-million milestone. 

A report from Statistics Canada says that Canada welcomed more than 1.1 million people in 2022 alone, including about 430,000 new permanent residents. 

 

The year 2022 was the first time Canada’s population would increase by more than a million people in a 12-month period. 

An expert from Canadian Visa Professionals says the increase is mainly attributed to the arrival of both permanent and temporary immigrants, representing about 95.9 percent of Canada’s population growth. 

The wave of new immigrants is due to the decision of the Canadian government to bring in a minimum of 500,000 people a year by 2025.

 

Relationship between Immigration and Population in Canada

Canadian Visa Professionals can establish that immigration has been responsible for Canada’s rapid population growth. As it stands, Ontario is the most populous province in Canada, with about 15.6 million people, followed by Quebec, with about 8.8 million people.

According to Statistics Canada, Canada’s population could hit 50 million in two decades if the current immigration levels are maintained. By 2041, 4 out of 10 Canadians could be born outside of Canada.

Anthaea-Grace Patricia Dennis, the 12-year-old graduate, accepted her biomedical science degree in June. The young prodigy attributes her great educational success to her mom.

“I am proud of my achievement, but much more, I’m thankful to my mom. One of the main reasons I attended the convocation and walked across the stage was to give a shout-out to my mom and appreciate her effort. Well, that is the main essence of graduation.” 

“My mom has always been there for me whenever I need her. For this, I am saying thank you very much,” concluded Patricia.

What the future holds for the youngest graduate in Canada

And when asked what the future holds for her, she said:

“Once I complete my well-earned break from studies over the summer, I will pursue postgraduate school.”

She revealed that her top graduate colleges are: McGill University, the University of Toronto, and the Illinois Institute of Technology. Patricia intends to continue her research on functional activity in the cerebellum.

Canada Is Home to 3 of the Most Livable Cities in the World

The Global Liveability Index for 2022 had three Canadian cities among the top 10. This ranking is done annually by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). This ranking has to do with the rating of 172 cities worldwide based on more than 30 factors. The factors on which this rating is done include crime rates, healthcare, education and infrastructure. Some other factors for ranking are green space and cultural and sports pursuits.

Based on these factors and the ranking of three Canadian cities among the top 10, Canadian Visa Professionals said immigrants have no cause to worry when moving to Canada.

Details about the 2022 Global Liveability Index

Vienna tops the list by replacing Auckland, last year’s winner. This year, Auckland’s position changed from no. 1 to no. 34, due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

From the report, Vienna was placed 12th last year. At that time, its museums and restaurants were closed. But now the city has rebounded to the 1st position, the same position it held in 2018 and 2019. The major reasons for the city’s high ranking are stability and good infrastructure. Also, it boasts good healthcare plus diverse opportunities for culture and environment.

Canadian Visa Professionals reported that the index listed Calgary as no. 3, Vancouver as no. 5 and Toronto positioned 8th.

Surprisingly, no U.S city made it to the top rankings. The U.S. cities which had good positions on the list last year fell to lower ranks this year.

IMF Predicts Canada Will Lead G7 in Economic Growth

Less growth is predicted for G7 nations as the economic outlook worsened recently. Despite this, Canada’s GDP growth is speculated to remain relatively strong at 3.4%-3.8% this year.
