The Canadian government is proactive in combating the potential labor shortage due to more than nine million baby boomers retiring over the next ten years. Marco Mendicino, the federal minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, has proposed increasing new permanent residents to Canada by one million over the next three years.

Mendicino said immigration is necessary to drive economic growth, assist companies in accessing the talent needed to thrive, and it spurs innovation. Canada is a desirable location for immigration and now is a great time to consider relocating. Contact CanadianVP for help applying for the visa required to live and work in Canada.

Economic Engine

A senior economist at RBC Capital Markets, Andrew Agopsowicz, said immigration has fueled Canada’s economic engine, helping the gross domestic product (GDP) grow at a faster rate than the national average in the larger cities. Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal’s populations would have declined dramatically in 2019 without Canadian immigration. The country grew by almost 580,000 people, and 80 percent of the growth happened by immigration, which helped offset Canada’s naturally aging demographic.

Healthy Inspiration

Former Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz noted there is no reason Canada should not be a desirable migration destination as long as the right protocols are set in place. He said there is a healthy inspiration for the government to figure out how to keep immigration an engine of economic growth. The team of experts at Canadian Visa Professionals will walk you through the steps for immigration. They will answer any questions you may have about the process. Contact them today!

A total of 30,300 new jobs were added by the Canadian economy in February 2020, according to Statistics Canada, beating predictions for growth in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. The increase was led by Quebec, which had its third month of job gains in a row and saw unemployment drop to 4.5 percent, which is the lowest on record for the province. The country’s unemployment rate remained near a 40-year low, even while rising slightly to 5.6 percent. On average, economists expected the agency would show an overall rise of 10,000 positions for February, according to Refinitiv, a financial markets data firm.

Living in a country with a strong economy has benefits for you and your family. Canadian Visa Professionals has a goal to make sure everyone who wants to live in Canada can do so. Contact them for help filling out the application for a visa to live in Canada.

Douglas Porter, the BMO chief economist said, “The underlying message is that the economy was doing relatively well before it ran into the storm of the virus. This is actually three months in a row where we’ve seen pretty sturdy job growth in Canada.” He said it looked to be a healthy check-up for the country’s economy, as far as mid-February.

Statistics Canada gathers the data about wages and jobs in the middle of the month, so there isn’t much to be gleaned about how companies are reacting to the COVID-19 outbreak, said Brian DePratto, a senior economist at TD Bank. He said if it weren’t for the outbreak, the latest report would have us upbeat about the economy. The Bank of Canada cut the key interest rate to 1.25 percent over concerns about the impact of the coronavirus.

It is not only needed for the area to attract labor and talent, but to retain the newcomers as well. Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen said the Canadian government has done work to reduce wait times for visa applications and immigration along with increasing funds for settlement and immigration. Speaking with local employers and the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce round table, he identified the next step is to look at specific needs in rural and remote communities across Canada, including northern Ontario. Canadian Visa Professionals will help you and your family apply for the required visa to live and work in Canada. There are many job opportunities available to make your financial dreams become a reality.

The group discussed the possibility of a pilot immigration program tailored for the needs of the region to help with the job vacancies and boost the economy. Hussen was adamant that it must be designed by local stakeholders and not the government in Ottawa. Canada is one of the most desirable immigration locations around the world. Contact Canadian Visa Professionals and allow them to walk you through the process of receiving the visa needed to work and live in the country.

The oil-producing province of Alberta is showing recovery from two straight years of decreased output from the collapse of global oil prices. Their gross domestic product rose by an impressive 4.9 percent in 2017. Expanding by 3.9 percent, British Columbia’s economy recorded the fastest pace since 2005. These numbers are a return to the normal for Canada.

Western provinces usually outpaced central provinces in economic growth until the recent oil price slump. The change in places in economic growth does not mean weakness in other regions of Canada.

Over the next five years, the number of millionaires will increase by over 50 percent, according to the new wealth report by Credit Suisse, a banking giant. In 2018 there were a total of 1.3 million millionaires, which is expected to increase by 54 percent, close to two million by 2023. Canada, the third-ranked country out of 24 economies with the largest gain in the millionaire population, comes in behind China and Russia.
The wealth report gave a picture of how wealth has increased for Canadians over the past 18 years. Wealth per adult in the country multiplied at an average rate of 5.4 percent, even with a small dive during the global financial crisis in 2008-2009. The average wealth per adult in 2018 was $288,260, nearly 30 percent lower than in the United States. Meanwhile, wealth in Canada was more uniformly distributed in comparison to the U.S. The median wealth per adult in the U.S. was $61,670, compared to $106,340 in Canada. Also, Canada had a larger percentage of those with more than $100,000 and less than $10,000 compared to America. Canada’s 1.3 million millionaires make up three percent of the globe’s top one percent wealth holders.

Even though Canada has been inundated with new immigrants, many guided to the country by companies such as Canadian Visa Professionals, they still have an overall positive attitude toward these newcomers.

Environics Institute for Survey Research Study

A recent study in Canada shows that more than 50% of Canadians do not think that immigration levels have gotten too high and that 80% of Canadians feel as though new immigrants help improve the economy. This is great news for people from around the world using the help of Canadian Visa Professionals and its team of experts to move to this great country.

Opinions Change

The executive director at Environics Institute, Keith Neuman, sees that there are positive changes in opinion for many Canadians who were previously resistant to the number of immigrants moving to Canada. He says that opinions are not as split as they were in prior years, proving that while other countries are not happy with immigration, most Canadians welcome those moving in, such as those helped by companies like Canadian Visa Professionals.

While there are some areas, such as Alberta, that do not look as favorably on immigrants, these feelings can change as past results have shown. Mr. Birjandian, chief executive of Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, knows that Albertans in general have very strong opinions on immigration. Research shows that immigrants tend to do very well living in Alberta and other Canadian provinces.
